Any chance someone would be willing to seed VG 11. I've been on the torrent for w week now and still stuck at 0%.

That's possible, though I usually use DVD sources instead. Most people with mkv video sources usually keep it as mkv, and just use something like mkvmerge to add in the subtitles for selectable subtitles since that's easier, and doesn't cause any loss of video quality.

lol, so thats what they meant by encode.
So can you use an mkv video and then you script and use that program and it'll be avi?

I use avisynth for everything else. It's actually quite convenient for video processing.

i see, so do you use mgmerge and add all those files then encode into avi?

No, I usually do my timing and translation together using SSA. VirtualDub and SSA only comes in when I'm doing typesetting (deciding what fonts to use, colours, positioning of subtitles, etc).

so do you type all your translation into notepad and then load them into "virtualdub" or SSA? then place the time?

Just experiment with different stuff and your imagination. I usually just edit the script with notepad, save, then reload the avs file in virtualdub to see the results. It's all up to your imagination, so it's a little hard for me to teach you to do it... ~_~

how to do typesetting on vd and np?(typesetting is the fancy karaoke stuff?)

I don't see the need to do anything fancy. In any case, I can do a lot of things with SSA alone (like the "logo" i put in for the TAG opening). So far, I'm keeping things simple. It's the same reason I'm using SSA, though I use it mainly for timing. I usually just use virtualdub + notepad for my typesetting (although I'm starting to use AvsP now instead).

so i'm using aegisub to timing a few 00 commerical and that its fairly easy, but why SSA? wny not aegisub? and you don't do logo creation and stuff? ;o

Well, I do everything in SSA, so it's all up to you on how you can do it based on creativity. I believe most (if not all other) fansub groups use more advanced stuff like Adobe After Effects to do it, so I don't think I can help you on that area. Karaoke is easy in SSA. You just need to switch to karaoke mode. Try the wiki page on SubStation Alpha. It points to some pretty good resources. Again, I think most other fansub groups use Aegisub or some other equivalent instead.

Haha, actually, I do pretty much everything except QC. I get other people to do that in case I'm biased. The only reason I got SHS in the first plae was because I had hoped to get someone to do a QC for my translations (cause I would rather they get checked by someone else). In any case, I should be releasing VG13 soon. As for GX, I might release eps 1 and 2 together (both are almost done). Don't worry, I'll get something out in the first week of April. :)

hey ths1138, do you do everything in translate, karaoke, etc?
pulling out is a good idea, since SHS doesn't seem committed and i don't like how they use their font.
so gundam x is only in Encode>QC>release?
hopefully you'll update more :P

Well, SHS has been dragging their feet with VG... Seems no one wants to do a translation QC on it... Which means I'll probably pull out of the joint and do it on my own... On the bright side, I've been trying out ways to encode Gundam X to see how well I can make it before I release it... And it hasn't been easy... I'll try to get something out soon... :)

Either projects would be pretty cool. Victory being my favorite non UC/nonTomino gundam and Zeta being my favorite gundam of all time. I would be happy if either one appeared as a release :)

Well, like I said before, I might start on Gundam X. However, I have gotten my hands on the blurays for the first box of Zeta Gundam... You'll find out when something new's been released... :P But there'll definitely be something else...
